How did Dinosaurs say hi to each other? — the way they communicate
Hello Sara!
Hi! I’ve recently met a new friend. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome H.Q.1.
WOW! He’s so big and has such a long neck!
Right! It’s called Diplodocus, one of the biggest dinosaurs. You see! It’s almost 4 meters high!
Hi H.Q.1, nice to meet you! I’m Ace!
Seems like it’s looking at me and saying hi.
H.Q.1 might hear you because it’s just 4 meters tall. If you met another Diplodocus, I bet it would be very hard for you to call its name!
Oh yes! Its neck is sooooooo long, I would have to jump very high, so that it can see me waving hello!
It’s a herbivorous dinosaur. When it stands up straight to eat leaves, it could be more than 10 meters high.
Make a guess, how many minibus long is he?
I think that’s equal to one minibus.
Sorry, you are wrong...... Generally, diplodocus was more than 13 meter long, which was almost the length of two minibuses!
If a group of diplodocuses hung out, would it be very hard for them to talk? They would probably need to shout at each other......
Not really. There were many other ways for them to communicate apart from shouting.
Dancing and singing? Just like a boyband! Are they going to send their love to fans?
Wow! That was so sweet!
How old are you? — The Way Scientists Determine the Age of Dinosaur Bones
Sara, look! It’s a baby dinosaur!
Oh! Its name is Toni. It may seem small with not even a meter long, it’s one of the largest juvenile sauropods!
How old is it?
How old is it? It’s 1.5 billion years old!
Wow! It…it’s that old?
I mean the age of the skeleton!
I know how to read the bone age, but how can we estimate how old it was before he died?
It seems that there is still so much to learn about a dinosaur’s lifespan!
Male or Female Dinosaur? — Its name is Victoria, was she a female?
Sara, look! This dinosaur is so special, there are plates all over its back!
It's a Stegosaurus, you can call it Victoria. Those plates on the back are called bone plates, the largest one could be as big as 97cm times 65 cm!
I see…… I assume it’s a female dinosaur given the name Victoria?
Let me test you, do you know how to identify the gender in humans apart from their looks?
Errr…… Is it the genes?
You're kind of right. Humans have 23 pairs of 46 chromosomes, of which 22 pairs are autosomes that are of no difference between males and females. The remaining pair is called the sex chromosomes. Females consist of two identical X chromosomes, while male consist of one X and one Y chromosome.
Oh….. Then do we also use genes to identify the gender in dinosaurs?
Then why is our dinosaur here called Victoria? Isn’t Victoria a girl’s name?
What are the colors of the dinosaurs? — Dinosaur coloration
Ah, I recognise this, I think it’s called Allosaurus?
Ace, you are smart for the very first time!
The name of Allosaurus is “Big Al 2”, the specimen is over 90% complete, which is the most complete Allosaurus found ever.
Of course, the bones above its eyes are so sharp, I must recognise it!
Let me ask you, are the colors of dinosaurs sharp?
Er… I guess they should be as sharp as me? How can we know the color of a dinosaur?
Melanosome? Does the prefix mean the color black?
Wow! I really have learnt a lot!
Dinosaurs got sick too?
Eh, it looks high-tech here?
Here’s the dino lab, a very special place in the exhibition. Let me show you modern technology! Do you know what CT is?
CT? Computer technology?
Partly right, it’s Computed Tomography.
Wow! That’s amazing! Can it find out if there’s any disease in a dinosaur bone?
Apart from bone disease, can we also know if the dinosaurs were sick before death?
Dinosaurs were prehistoric creatures which went extinct much longer before humans and fossils are our only way of understanding them. However, the information obtained by fossils is rather indirect, it must be very difficult to study their health conditions before death…
I wish technology would continue to advance so we can understand more about dinosaurs!
How do you determine whether dinosaurs migrated?
Wow! I’ve never seen a bird so big!
Yes, it’s 10 meters long if it spreads its wings. That’s the same as a bus!
Does it migrate to other places like the birds?
Although Hatzegopteryx has wings, they are not birds. In fact, they appeared 50 millions years earlier than birds!
So you ask whether pterosaurs migrate… We have to ask the Snapask tutors!
Do other dinosaurs migrate besides pterosaurs?
Is the T-rex grumpy? - the way to survive under the attack of T-rex
Sara! Be careful! It’s the T-Rex!
Run! Quick!
This is an exhibition, we are looking at the T-Rex skeletons, why are you so afraid?
Haha, T-Rex is a very brutal species in movies, I’m so scared seeing it.
True. T-Rex is fierce and aggressive by nature. It had a huge muscular body and sharp teeth. If you were caught by him, you would definitely die!
As portrayed in the movies, T-Rex had bad eyesights. They could only sense the prey when the prey was moving. I think we stood a chance not to be caught by him if we just stood still in front of it!
If we happened to meet T-Rex, would the chance of living be very slim?
I’ve got an idea! The T-Rex was so big, I could run in a Z shape so it would fall easier.
We should probably just run!
Why were dinosaurs so big? - The research about dinosaur's size
I’m so tired, Sara! We’ve seen so many dinosaurs, all of them are so big, my neck is sore!
Do you know why they can be so big while you can’t?
Because I didn’t do enough exercise?
Dinosaurs have to hunt and run constantly, of course their muscles are big!
Then how can you explain those huge herbivorous dinosaurs?
I…I’m gonna ask Snapask tutors!
So all dinosaurs were huge? Were there ones similar to a human’s size?
THE BIG BATTLE - Do we have anything that is bigger than the dinosaurs’?
Humans are really tiny compared to dinosaurs.
We don't have the long neck of Diplodocus or the strong legs and big mouth of T-rex. Do human beings really have nothing bigger and stronger than dinosaurs?
Is it my big eyes?
Is it my powerful brain?
Are dinosaurs equally intelligent?
I got it. I guess... carnivorous dinosaurs had bigger brains than herbivorous dinosaurs because they had to hunt for food!

Dinosaur Soap

Excavating and restoring the dinosaur fossils is extremely challenging! Paleontologists have to be very patient and delicate while scrubbling the fossils to remove the clays on the fossils. For the dinosuar soap, there will be one hidden mini dinosaur bone toy. If you scrup the soap with water, you will discover the enire model and have a taste of being a paleonlogist at home!

Limited availability. Please stay tuned for updates!!

My Dream Dinosaur Competition

Does T-Rex have feather? Does Spinosaurus know how to swim? With more dinosaurs are unearthed, we have a much better understanding towards these titans. We discovered that they are way stronger and amusing than our imagination. But what do these creatures look like in your imagination? Pick up your color pencils and share your thoughts with us!
